Why Don't You...Make an Image out of Simple Data?
This 2020 commission for Focal Point Gallery was part of a series inspired by the BBC Children’s television programme, "Why Don’t You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead?"
Launched during the 2020 pandemic restrictions and lockdowns, this online programme gave suggestions for viewers to be creative and entertained AWAY from the screen. Each installment, launched every 2 weeks, was led by a guest artist, building a resource of activities for viewers to enjoy at their own pace.
No slugs or snails were harmed in the making of this project (although they were relocated to the compost bin...).

"Episode 8
For the eighth episode, Southend-based artist Damien Robinson presents ‘Why Don’t You Make An Image Out Of Simple Data?’. In this video, Damien shows us how we can record information from simple daily observations and turn them into something else, so that numbers can become colours, or letters can become patterns."
