Rochford Art Collector Series

Rochford Art Collector Series took place during the Rochford Trail. Visitors could collect and keep a limited run of 7 commissioned artworks by visiting venues on Trail.

Artworks were not made available in one complete piece – each work was reproduced in 9 micro-business card sized, ‘pocketable’ segments. Trail visitors could collect each of the 9 segments, from 9 different venues, and then reassemble the 9 pieces to create the completed artwork. Each artwork (and its comprising 9 segments) was available on one day of the Trail, with 7 complete artworks to collect over 7 days. Missing segments were available after the trail via RDC.

Six micro-commissions were offered to artists from an open call. Resulting artworks were available to collect daily during the trail and works were also showcased on the companion website (no longer active as of 2017), which provided access to information on the commissions and extra content to accompany the collecting experience.

The concept for Rochford Art Collector Series was developed by artists Damien Robinson and Stuart Bowditch, working with Rochford District Council Arts Development, with funding from Arts Council England.
